Research Projects

The road to publication...

In an effort to maximise the return on investment from my honours program, I spent a great deal of time delving into  the global academic literature in search of new and innovative methodologies and explanations which might help to rationalise the historical performance of commodity futures momentum strategies.

Having been awarded a class 1 result for my honours thesis study in 2017, it was decided that the study should be extended and prepared for publishing. With the help and guidance of a pair of dedicated supervisors, a manuscript study utilising new and innovative methodologies and informative results has been produced.

The paper has been presented internally at the annual Griffith Alternative Investments conference, hosted at the Marriot hotel in Brisbane, and at a series of Griffith University seminars and lectures.

Valuation Report NCM.AX, June 2016

In the final semester of my bachelors program, I completed a detailed investigation of the largest gold miner in world, Newcrest Mining Ltd. Under strict assessment conditions, I compiled a 16 page valuation report and presented my findings under scrutiny to a seminar of staff and peers.

A multi-weighted mixed valuation methodology comprising DCF, DDM and Multiples valuation techniques coupled with a expansionary strategy from management presented a strong bull case for the company, with an 18.79% upside from the $19.11 trading price.

Results and commentary from my assessor placed me at the top of my class, and I received an academic distinction award for my efforts.
